While the children's stories are lovely for the young, the author and illustrator Beatrix Potter was hardly a naughty Squirrel Nutkin, instead she was an early conservationist who helped give the National Trust much of the Lake District.

But a film of her life? Who cares? Her young fans are more interested in her characters and without any sex or scandal, it's just a dull biopic.
