If you don't want to use HRT for your menopausal symptoms, what else can you try? Will exercise help? How can you prevent or ease hot flushes? And what will help you tackle your troublesome mood swings?
In the Autumn 2005 issue of The Menopause Exchange newsletter, we have asked top menopause experts around the country which self-help measures they recommend. The article covers the most common symptoms of the menopause, including hot flushes, mood swings and vaginal dryness.
“Self-help measures can help to combat menopausal symptoms, but women need to know which ones are most effective. We contacted the menopause experts as they are advising women in their clinics on a regular basis and know the latest research. All women have the right to know how to ease their symptoms if they don't want to, or can't, take HRT,” says Norma Goldman, founder and director of The Menopause Exchange.
The Menopause Exchange covers a wide range of subjects like menopausal symptoms, HRT and its alternatives, nutrition and lifestyle and medical conditions (e.g. breast cancer). It is completely independent – it is not sponsored by any companies and is funded purely by subscriptions. Other articles in the Autumn 2005 issue include treatments for osteoporosis, menopause myths/misconceptions and thyroid problems. The Menopause Exchange has an Ask the Experts panel and fact sheets specifically for members.
